Actress Megan Fox may have to pay spousal support

On Behalf of | Aug 27, 2015 | Spousal Support

Couples who are divorcing often discuss various issues during the process. Not only may they try to agree when it comes to child custody or property division, they may try to find an amount of spousal support that they both feel is fair. Like with any divorce legal matter, when couples do not agree, they often find themselves in front of a judge who will then decide for them. When this happens, there are a number of things that are taken into consideration when the judge decides which spouse will be awarded spousal support and how much the payments will be.

Actress Megan Fox and husband Brian Austin Green have decided to divorce and it has been speculated that Green will be the one to be awarded spousal support. In this particular situation, Green may be awarded alimony due to a difference in his and his wife’s income, but also his vertigo. Green suffered from vertigo when he and Fox were hit by a drunk driver in December. He has been bedridden for months and, as a result, unable to work.

For this divorce, it may not be difficult for Green to prove that he is the spouse who deserves alimony. In many cases, when disputes over spousal support go in front of a judge, there’s a chance that the judge may decide neither spouse deserves spousal support or that the requesting spouse is not in need of support like they feel they are. This case is different because Green is unable to produce an income due to his medical condition.

Anyone who is divorcing and feels as though they deserve spousal support may want to contact an attorney, as they may be able to assist you with proving your case. Divorces do not always need to be long and drawn out, but when certain issues are discussed it is inevitable. However, with a knowledgeable attorney working with couples during the divorce process, they may be able agree on an amount of spousal support that is fair and avoid going to court.
