It is remarkably easy for divorces to spin out of control. You disagree about one small aspect, and suddenly the entire divorce is suspect, and thousands of more dollars are at stake. Unfortunately, Ms. Jules Wainstein is getting a reality check in her contested divorce. The former Real Housewife of New York City recently withdrew from the show after only one season due to the bitterness of her ongoing divorce proceedings.
Earlier this month, her ex-husband requested that $200 a month in grocery money be sent directly to the nanny than her. He argued that the children are not properly fed, and he wants to ensure their proper care.
But the judge ruled against his request and sided with Ms. Wainstein. He did, however, order her to keep receipts in case her ex-husband would like to confirm that she is purchasing sufficient food for their children.
In contrast, the judge ruled against Ms. Wainstein’s request for $25,000 a month in child and spousal support. Mr. Wainstein’s attorney submitted evidence that his businesses are suffering from the publicity of the show and the case and therefore his monthly income is significantly reduced.
The judge temporarily agreed with him and ordered support of $10,000 for September and October but stated that he must produce more evidence. Specifically, Ms. Wainstein argued that her ex-husband failed to provide any tax documents substantiating his income.
As of this post, the case is ongoing, and these results are preliminary.
