Kelly Rutherford fails to return her children to their father

On Behalf of | Aug 14, 2015 | Child Custody

Child custody is something that parents may not always agree on. With this being the case, it is not uncommon for both parents to engage in heated disputes over who will get custody of their child and whom they will live with. After this dispute is resolved, and a child custody order is in place, it should be taken seriously by both parents, as there is the chance of one or both parents being reprimanded for not adhering to the custody order.

Actress Kelly Rutherford has been involved in a child custody dispute with the father of her children for quite some time now, but more recently the issue has escalated. After several courts in the United States found that they have no jurisdiction over Rutherford’s child custody case with her ex-husband, Rutherford has decided to make a bold decision and keep her children here in the U.S. with her. This may present an issue for the actress because she was court ordered to return her children to their father, who lives in Monaco.

With this particular case having presented a lot of confusion for those involved and authorities in the United States, it is unclear as to whether or not Rutherford will be arrested for not adhering to the court order. Unlike Rutherford’s case, for most parents dealing with a custody dispute where both parents are from the U.S., there may not be as much confusion when it comes to the punishment a parent may face for keeping their child from the other parent.

Parents who are experiencing a custody battle do not need to feel as if they are alone. It is important that during this time they seek the aid of a knowledgeable attorney who can help them with the custody dispute they may be having with the other parent of their child. Even though parents often do not agree on an arrangement for child custody in the beginning, there may be a solution to the problem that will make both parents happy in the end.
