Paternity test for Matthew Knowles proves he is the father

On Behalf of | Sep 25, 2014 | Paternity

For many fathers, paternity testing is a firm step in the right direction to obtaining parental rights to the child they helped conceive. In this case, it remains to be seen if the father of this child really desires a relationship or if it is a burden that will be played out in court and also in the court of public opinion.

Beyoncé and Solange Knowles father, Matthew Knowles, had to undergo a paternity test when a former lingerie model from his past made a claim that he fathered a child with her. The results were 99.9 percent accurate and proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is the father of this child.

He had previously fathered a child in 2010 with another woman who was not his wife. He was ordered to pay child support for this infant in the amount of $12,000 a month. This amount was reduced significantly because he lost his job and couldn’t pay.

The mother of the child, a 30-year-old who is now a real estate agent, will be asking the court to require Knowles to provide child support. This will be difficult for him because his daughters fired him from his management position with them and he hasn’t found a foothold to earn enough income to support himself or his child.

Paternity is a double-edged sword. Proving that a child is yours by means of a DNA test can allow you to spend quality time with your child while at the same time may cost you in terms of child support. In Texas, those payments must be made in a timely manner or you may end up in jail over non-payment.

If you find yourself involved in a paternity suit, you may want to contact a professional who knows the laws of Texas and can advise you based on a deep knowledge of the legalities of paternity in this state.
