Texas anti-gay activist’s wife divorces him for another woman

On Behalf of | Aug 22, 2014 | Divorce

A divorce is usually no laughing matter; however, in this case, the truth is hard to believe. A man who is an anti-gay activist in Texas has had his wife file divorce papers so that she could proceed with a relationship she was in. The twist is that the relationship was with another woman.

The man involved is especially outspoken in his anti-gay rhetoric and was surprised that his wife would have this type of relationship. The man is the president of “Texas Values” and was served divorce papers in August 2011. His ex-wife was friends with an elementary school teacher at the same time that she was a teacher also.

At the time of the divorce filing, his position with Texas Values wasn’t as lofty as it is currently. Within six months of the divorce filing though, he became the verbose president of the biggest anti-gay group in Texas.

This nonprofit has worked hard to make sure that the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transvestite entities are blocked in the court as they file non-discrimination ordinances in San Antonio and Houston.

In his divorce proceeding with his wife, the court documents state that he requested that she have a complete evaluation by a psychologist that he chose. She did not do this, and he wanted her to go to jail or pay a hefty fine for non-compliance.

He demanded that her girlfriend not be permitted to be around his three children in any way. The court granted his requests in 2012. Later, the man made an additional demand that the children have a permanent order of protection against the girlfriend. This final request was denied by the judge in the Agreed Final Decree of Divorce. All these details were in his counter-petition for divorce that he filed in 2013

If you face a divorce, contentious or not, it is a good idea to have a legal professional in your corner who can advise you, listen to your concerns and who knows the laws of the state of Texas.
