Paternity at issue for Texan’s running back

On Behalf of | Jun 1, 2014 | Paternity

Houston Texans running back, Arian Foster, may soon be learning whether he is the father of a new baby boy. A woman who claims that Foster is the father of her unborn child says that she is due to give birth in just a few weeks. Norwood alleges that the child is the result of a 2013 affair she had with the married father of two.

It appears that the relationship between Norwood and Foster is not still ongoing based on her posts to social media websites. In one entry, Norwood posted a picture of her full with child and wrote that she is anxious about getting to the hospital when the time arrives for her delivery. She also commented on her difficulty assembling a piece of baby furniture all by herself. Norwood insists that she has not received any financial assistance from Foster on behalf of the child.

Reporters attempted to contact Norwood’s attorney regarding the statements, but he cited a judge’s gag order about remaining silent regarding the case. Those in Foster’s camp have contradicted Norwood’s claims about not receiving money, they say Foster has been giving her money every month.

Norwood and Foster now have dueling litigation in the courts. She has filed a paternity lawsuit against him, which he responded to with a lawsuit alleging defamation. Foster joined the Texan’s roster in 2009.

In paternity cases, the primary concern should always be on doing whatever is in the best interest of the child. For single mothers that could mean the child’s father may have to assist them financially once parentage is established. For fathers, establishing paternity can pave the way towards getting the legal right to spend time with their child.
