As promised, we are updating our March blog post concerning the third marriage between Dennis Quaid and his current wife of seven years, Kimberly Buffington. The two had been married in 2004, but have been struggling in their marriage during this past year.
Back in March, we reported about the filing of divorce papers by Buffington, who is a Texas real estate agent. However, shortly thereafter Buffington stopped the divorce proceedings with the intention to attempt to work out the differences in the couple’s marriage.
Despite their efforts at a reconciliation, it appears that, in the end, seeking a divorce was the best course of action for this couple. After the March divorce filing, things changed when Quaid moved to California this summer. Since then, he waited the required minimum six months before recently filing his own divorce papers. Just previous to that, Buffington had filed for legal separation in October.
The couple has twins, a boy and a girl, who are now four-years old. Although the basis of their marital problems has not been reported, it is hoped that in the best interests of their children, the couple will be able to amicably work out child custody and child support arrangements so that the children’s well-being will be take precedence.
Issues involving the division of marital property, as well as alimony may already be clearly laid out if the couple has in effect a validly executed prenuptial agreement. Considering that this is Quaid’s third marriage, this is likely the case.
