Keanu Reeves says past paternity suit was no excellent adventure

On Behalf of | Apr 6, 2011 | Paternity

We are used to seeing actor Keanu Reeves as a cool guy in his movies. Whether he’s on an excellent adventure as a tubular teen or saving passengers on a speeding bus, Reeves’ characters portray him as a man who can roll with the surprises that life throws at him.

But even the most seemingly calm person can be significantly shaken by a family law dispute. According to recent reports, Reeves has admitted that he become embroiled in a paternity lawsuit in 2009. Sources quote the actor as describing the experience as “horrible.”

The Toronto Sun claims that a woman came forward in 2009, claiming that Reeves had fathered at least one of her children. At this point, the kids are all adults; therefore, the mother reportedly wanted millions of dollars in back child support.

Unsurprisingly, the paternity suit was a huge stress on Reeves. Since the woman first made the allegations against him, the supposed father has insisted that he never even knew his accuser. He couldn’t be the father of any of her kids.

Fortunately for Reeves, a DNA test proved his side of the story. The test showed that there was no relation between the star and the woman’s children. He has to pay her nothing, and the case has been dismissed.

Family law disputes can be some of the most emotional and stressful legal disputes of all. In Reeves paternity case, it’s hard to imagine what he was feeling when faced with the possibility that he had been a father for years without knowing it.
