‘My Name is Earl,’ star tops off rough patch with divorce filing

On Behalf of | Jan 29, 2011 | Spousal Support

Sure, the lives of Hollywood stars might look easy, but one popular starlet has recently proven that struggles affect us all, whether we are blue collar workers or stars of a hit TV show. Blonde beauty and actress Jaime Pressly is in the midst of living out a string of stressful incidents in the eyes of the media.

The most recent reports of the actress confirm lingering rumors that she and her husband are going to end their relatively short-lived marriage. A Texas source reported this morning that Pressly has made fact out of gossip by filing divorce papers in Los Angeles.

According to reports, Pressly cited the common “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the pending dissolution. Exactly what those differences are has not been explained by either Pressly or her entertainment lawyer husband.

Sources claim that the couple separated last month. If true, that might explain Pressly’s recent (out-of-character) arrest. You might have seen the actress’ mug shot hit media outlets a few of weeks ago when she was arrested for drunk driving. No accident occurred as a result of the DUI, and that case is yet to thoroughly play out.

For now, however, Pressly has plenty of serious matters to handle. She is fighting to not have to pay spousal support once the divorce is final. Reports indicate that the star might truly need to hold on to that money. The IRS has recently accused Pressly of failing to pay more than $600,000 in taxes.

It might be interesting to see how the tax allegation could play out during the divorce process. We will post an update as there are developments in this celebrity case.
