It's been a story plastered all over the media: Kelsey Grammer, 55, is moving on from his third marriage and straight into his fourth. The public has become familiar with Grammer's soon-to-be ex-wife through the hit TV program "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," and for regular viewers of the show, it should be no surprise that the feisty star is not taking the split lying down.
It's not that Camille Donatacci, 47, doesn't want to divorce Grammer. She, in fact, filed the divorce papers in July, after finding out about her husband's 29-year-old girlfriend. But just because she wants out of the 14-year marriage, that doesn't mean she is willing to settle for just any financial terms. She is reportedly recognizing her right to seek a settlement, including child support and alimony, that she thinks she deserves.
Sources report that the Hollywood couple does not have a prenuptial agreement. That fact surprises many people since Grammer has been divorced twice before. Without that marital contract, the state of California's property division law would divide the couple's assets down the middle. Donatacci, however, allegedly wants more than half.
The estimated value that would be divided between the couple is $100 million, so Donatacci is in position to get $50 million. It was a financially wise move for her, therefore, to have reportedly refused a $30 million settlement from Grammer around Christmas. And the New York Post claims that she wants a little more than the $50 million. That amount doesn't include child and spousal support payments, which Donatacci allegedly wants added to the divorce settlement.
Both spouses are reportedly eager to get this divorce over with, and with the required six-month waiting period in California, their split could be official by the first of 2011. Whether the divorce is finalized by then, however, depends on the couple's attitudes regarding agreeing on a settlement. We will keep you posted.
