The situation that led to the high-profile divorce between Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver might have involved intense drama, but it looks like the divorce process between the actor/former governor and his journalist wife won't need to get as dramatic.
It didn't appear that the process would be smooth sailing between the two when recent reports came out about Schwarzenegger's requests regarding finances and the divorce. According to sources, he requested last week that he shouldn't have to pay Shriver spousal support. He also requested that he not be required to pay for any of his soon-to-be ex's legal fees.
Recent reports indicate that the former 'Governator' is singing a new tune. He has reportedly changed the above-mentioned requests which will now make the divorce arrangement easier on Shriver. He abandoned his objection to paying her support and paying her legal fees.
Why the change of heart? Neither Schwarzenegger nor any of his representatives have clarified what changed his mind about the spousal support and legal fees. However, some wonder whether a body boarding injury that landed the duo's son in the hospital last week might have encouraged a change of heart.
In the process of a divorce, it is sometimes easy for estranged spouses to forget that it is more than their legal marriage that's affected by their actions. Often times, such as in this celebrity case, there are kids in the mix of a divorce who can be hurt during the process. When his son was hurt last week, perhaps Schwarzenegger was reminded of that fact and amended his requests for the sake of civility. This, to be clear, is simply a theory.
When there are more developments in this case, we will post an update.
